POLK COUNTY'S
 OLDEST CITY

Remembering the Past, Embracing the Future

LEADERSHIP FORT MEADE

Leadership classes hosted by cities and counties are unique to each class's personality and experience.

LEADERSHIP FORT MEADE is a driving force in the city for two important purposes:

1) Polk County and even State business and civic leaders, who in many cases are not aware of our city's history and exciting future, are introduced to the fine example and integrity of Leadership Fort Meade classmates; and ....

2) Leadership Fort Meade classmates are exposed to new activities, economic dynamics, and political mainstays they otherwise would not be fortunate to visit.

Leadership Fort Meade is a positive experience with positive results!

Community and business individuals interested in furthering their knowledge and networking experiences are prime candidates for Leadership Fort Meade. Add to these, the outstanding youth who are focused and ready to make major academic and career decisions and one can understand the promising future for classmates and the communities they are serving and will be serving in the coming years.

Leadership Fort Meade is dedicated to one day per month.

Except for Polk County Day in Tallahassee, Leadership Fort Meade provides a day filled with experiences and visits, camaraderie and contacts, that can round out a person's résumé. Class days begin usually at 7:30 a.m. returning at 5:30 p.m. Meals are provided by much appreciated sponsors and transportation has been graciously provided by Bob Elliott's Greenwood Chevrolet.

Leadership Fort Meade is a three-way commitment between the Fort Meade Chamber of Commerce, as facilitator, Individual Classmates, as dedicated participants, and supportive employers who financially provide and cooperate for the successful completition of the course.  A contract is signed by the classmate and employer before the course begins.

Graduates organize a project that will benefit the community of Fort Meade Meade.

LFM Class I Alumni joined with the Polk County School Board and Fort Meade Middle Senior High School to bring academies to the school. Currently, WellDyne Inc. (Pharmaceutical Academy) and Leadership and Business Academy are in place. Additional academies are being considered.

LFM Class II Alumni spurred the conception of Youth Leadership Fort Meade, which is in place for the LFM Class III experience.

Each graduating class nominates candidates for the next year's course.

Cost for Leadership Fort Meade is $600 - which covers cost of class materials, transportation fuel, as well as lodging for the Tallahassee Polk County Day trip.
